  • Was in charge of the Mini-E program
  • Megacity vehicle coming in 2013 using light weight battery components made by carbon-fiber
  • Mini-E had sufficient range, public charging was not a problem, range anxiety quickly overcome once time is spent with an EV

Matt Miyasato, Air Quality Management District

  • Concerned with ai quality, but also energy security and greenhouse gases
  • Air quality in the South Coast basin (LA area) is the worst in the nation

James Boyd, California Energy Commission

  • Policy objectives in CA
    • GHG reduction: Reduce emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 and 80% below that by 2050
    • Petroleum reduction: Reduce to 15% below 2003 levels by 2020
    • Alternate and renewable fuel use: Increase alternatives to 11% bo 2012 and 26% by 2022
    • In-state biofuels: Produce in CA 20% of biofuels used in state by 2010, and 75% by 2050
  • EV rebates from AB 118. $4.1 million this fiscal year, wants $5 million for next
  • AB 118 will also do 635 upgrades of existing EVSE stations. Currently 2,360 residential and commercial charge points

Nancy Gioia, Ford

  • 10-25% of Ford global fleet will be electrified by 2020 (includes BEV and PHEVs)
  • Transit Connect full-electric van will be launched later this year 

Mary Nickerson, Toyota

  • Doing pilot with 150 PHEVs and will be collecting data
