Seattle Trip - Day 5

Posted by: Max Dunn on April 23, 2008 07:55:24

Day 5 in our Seattle trip was Saturday and our last day there. It had been raining, snowing and hailing the day before, but we decided to be brave and go to the zoo anyways. We got there early and there was hardly anyone there. Some exhibits were closed because it was off season, but many were still open and while it rained on and off, it didn't bother us. The zoo turned out to be really well done with a lot of interesting displays and animals. Our favorite was the "Night Animal" exhibit in which we got to see a porcupine and armadillo running around, as well as some bats. We also enjoyed the reptile and turtle exhibits, as well as seeing some gorillas and wild dogs up close. Maxie liked seeing the peacock spread its feathers and thought the hippos were cool. Claire liked the gift shop, the tropical rain forest, zebras, pony, panda cows, the bugs, the monkeys, the pudgy gorillas, hippo and porky guy.

Seattle Trip - Day 4

EMP Sign.jpgDay 4 in Seattle, Friday, was a very fun day. We started out by going to the Experience Music Project (EMP). We got there right after it opened and were told it was best to go up to the third floor to the interactive exhibits before the schools arrived. We did that and discovered a room with a whole bunch of instruments and computer instruction on how to play them. The guitar was a little hard because they had lights on the frets to show you where to play, but it was difficult to follow. But the drum exhibit was great and we all learned how to do a basic drum beat. It was good that we went there first because soon a whole bunch of kids came in! We also really enjoyed the guitar history display that showed all the different types of guitars that have been made. That room also had a video running that showed different legendary guitarists playing in different styles which was really cool to see. We then went into a room and pretended to play "Wild Thing" while they took a picture of us. Suzanne realized later that we only knew two lines in this song.

Sky City Restaurant Dad and Maxie.jpgWe also went up to the SkyCity Restaurant to have lunch this day. Lunch was surprisingly good, the service was wonderful and of course the view was great. After lunch we went up to the observation deck and found out they have a nice cafe up there and some great exhibits about Seattle and the Sky Needle.

That night back at the hotel room, we paid $12 to watch "27 Dresses" in the room and it had a fuzzy picture and the sound was too low, but we still enjoyed it.

Seattle Trip - Day 3

Dad's Hospital Bracelet.jpgOur third day in Seattle, Thursday, was very interesting. I woke up early in the morning feeling very dizzy and it quickly turned into the worse case of vertigo I have experienced so far. Unlike the other times, lying still on my right side didn't make it better, and I started vomitting profusely. Suzanne called the Blue Cross advice nurse who suggested she call 911, so I was soon transported to the hospital. At the hospital, they gave me an anti-vertigo drug and filled me full of fluids, and I got better quickly and was back at the hotel soon. However, I was pretty wiped out and spent the day sleeping.

Claire and Maxie at the original Starbucks 2.jpgSuzanne and kids took the monorail back downtown. They went to Nordstrom rack and Claire bought some Puma shoes. They also went to Gap and Westlake Mall. Then they headed back to Pike Place and looked at some of the store's downstairs (Suzanne said they had "junky" stuff). Of course, they went back to the original Starbucks where the girl behind the counter (who looked like Jennifer Hudson) said that the kids had "beautiful eyes". They also visited the Mariner's Baseball store where the lady gave the kids free Ichiro posters.

Seattle Trip - Day 2

Future of Flight 2_2.jpgToday, we went on a tour of boeing airplanes. The place were they make airplanes and do the tour is about a 30 minute drive from seattle. It was very interesting. We went into the biggest buildfing in the world and saw lots of boeing jets being built. After we went into the aviation museum. It was fun and interesting place to go to.

Original Nordstrom.jpgAfter the boeing airplane making tour, we went to walk around downtown Seattle. First we went into the first ever built nordstroms. It still looks the same as all the other nordstroms. My sister really enjoyed that. I got a pair of shorts there and she got a shirt.

Moon Valley.jpgThen we went to the farmers market and they had a lot of cool shops there. My mom got some soap and
honey there. We saw a lot of fish stands there.

Our Starbucks purchases.jpgWe walked through the farmers market then went to the original starbucks. It looked a lot different then a regular starbucks. It was a small shop with no place to sit and drink coffee, just a place to order coffee. Also the place was filled with boxes on the shelf which maybe is filled with coffe beans or ground but I'm not sure. The starbucks sign and the coffee cups had a different logo on them but still similar to the regular starbucks logo in regular shops.

Ivar's front.jpgWe tried to go to the seattle aquarium close to there. We got there at 4:30 but it was closing at 5 so we didn't go. We then walked around for a place to eat and then ate at Ivars. It is a good seafood place. I got the original fish and chips and had some edamames which were all good.

Monorail 3.jpgWe finished dinner and walked back to the monorail. Along the way before and after dinner we stopped at different chocalate shops and got chocolate at each shop. The monorail was fun since I haven't been on a monorail for a long time. Downtown is a really fun place in seattle.

Seattle Trip - Day One

Maxie on plane.jpgToday after our plane flight, we took a shuttle bus to the Mariners game. It was an exiting game. And also the coldest baseball game I have ever yet been to. I had 4 layers on. There were many good hits by kansas city and seattle. In the end, the mariners won 11 to 6. The mariners field, safeco park is a nice stadium. I would like to come back again.

After the baseball game, we went to this vietamise pho restraunt. It was small and nicely decorated on the inside with cool pictures and asian lanterns hanging from the ceiling. I ordered this beef plate and it was really good and tasty. Overall, I enjoyed eating hear and would come back again.

Watching the game - brr is cold.jpg

I really enjoyed the plane trip, I don't know why I did, but I enjoyed it except the takeoff where I was hiding under Mommy's arm the whole time. The game was freezing cold and my feet got hyperthermia. The pretzels were great though. The dinner was really good - I loved the noodles, well, I always do really. I can't wait to go to the original Nordstrom and Starbucks!

Daddy

The kids have been doing a great job taking pictures. I have been uploading them to our Flickr account:

This looks like a good place for pho.jpg
