Max S. Dunn...when there is a will, there is a way |
||
Since I retired in May of 2005 after selling my fourth company, I have been spending a lot of time researching a variety of subjects. Two subjects that I have been most interested in are climate change and peak oil. While climate change is certainly a very popular issue and many people are active in this area, I believe that the more immediate and devastating challenge facing our world today is peak oil.
Peak oil does not mean that we are running out of oil - it simply means that we are no longer able to pull it out of the ground fast enough to supply the rising demand. We are already starting to see the effects of peak oil through skyrocketing prices. However, this is just a taste of things to come where oil prices will continue to climb and, even worse, there will be shortages.
One way to drastically reduce our usage of oil is to move to an electric vehicle infrastructure since car and light truck transportation in the US consumes over 50% of our oil. Electric vehicles have been proven to be reliable and enjoyable, and even with today's limited battery technology, electric vehicles can still fill the majority of our transportation needs.
However, while I am very passionate about peak oil and electric vehicles and want to do something to help the world move past its dependence on oil, I don't know exactly what to build around this concept and am hoping this workshop will provide some clarity.
